HOW TO BOOST YOUR ENERGY LEVELS

Would you like to have more energy and perform on a higher level? Life can be very hectic at times, and you may feel that you are running in a constant rat race and are low in energy. Your to-do list is endless, and sometimes you may question how you will get through your day. Sounds familiar? Next, I will share three hacks on how to boost your energy levels so you can perform on a higher level in your everyday life.

1. GET YOUR BODY MOVING

If you wake up in the morning feeling tired and lacking energy, or you are in the middle of your workday and hitting an afternoon crash, one of the simplest ways to get more energy is to get the body moving. 

Go out for a walk, hit the gym during lunch break, or, if you are working from home, do yoga or stretching. Whatever type of movement fills your cup. Coffee and caffeinated drinks can give you a little boost, but you may notice that you hit another crash and feel tired again within 2-3 hours when the caffeine boost wears off.

If I hit an afternoon crash, I go for a walk, get on my yoga mat, or head to the gym to boost my energy levels. My ultimate energy boosting hack is to swim in cold water; this will definitely wake you up and boost your energy levels.

2. OPTIMISE WHAT YOU EAT FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE

The second energy hack is to pay attention to what you eat. The gut is the second brain, and if it’s not getting the right type of fuel or functioning well, you may not perform at your highest level. 

A big game changer for me to boost my energy levels and productivity was to cut out processed foods, gluten, dairy, refined carbohydrates and sugars. All these foods may impact your energy levels, leading to energy crashes, reduced focus and productivity.

It may sound like a mission impossible to make all these changes to your diet, but the trick is to start by taking small steps and see how different foods impact your energy levels and performance.

3. HAVE MINI-BREAKS THROUGHOUT YOUR DAY

We often have a tendency to push through our days trying to achieve as much as possible in 24 hours. We are always feeling busy, and stress is a constant visitor in our days. So, how do you have more energy during your busy day? Have 10- 15 minute mini-breaks. Put your phone on do-not-disturb mode and find a place where you can be undisturbed. You could go for a walk, put on headphones, listen to relaxing music, or get a cup of tea and have a chill. The idea is to give your brain a break and a chance to relax, so it gets an energy boost for the rest of your day. 

Give these three energy-boosting hacks a go to have more energy in your busy day: get the body moving, pay attention to what you eat and have mini-breaks throughout your day.
